Video Premiere: Phil Gammage “The Rain”

Check out the latest single from New York-based Texan singer-songwriter Phil Gammage.  We’re pleased to premiere the video for ‘The Rain’, which was produced by PreFab International Ciné productions.  The sustained keys, hypnotic guitar rhythms and the subtle echo on Gammage’s voice all add to the dreamy, timeless feel that is reinforced by the accompanying video.

The video features the acting talents of Lizzie Edwards and David Fleming as a romantic couple who display a range of emotions as we follow their relationship.  Gammage says of the video for ‘The Rain’:  “These two actors really flex their acting skills in this production. The strength of their performances are strong and filled with a powerful nuance. I know both David and Lizzie through the NYC music scene and when casting actors for the video felt they would have a good chemistry on screen. And they sure did…the screen sizzles when the two are together. I compare them to a classic Hollywood screen couple like Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift in A Place in the Sun, or Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke in 9 1/2 Weeks.  The Poughkeepsie train station was perfect for the footage filmed on location there, capturing the mood of the male lead’s (Fleming) loneliness. It’s a large public space full of anonymous faces passing through, going everywhere and going nowhere. The city footage was filmed at Ethyl’s in uptown Manhattan and the environment was just right for the flashback scenes of a couple in the throws of new romance. The ending is a cliff-hanger and the audience will want more. But of course, the beauty of a music video is that it is by nature short and direct. I feel like we have really upped our game with this one.”

‘The Rain’ is taken from Gammage’s brand new album ‘Redeemed’, which is out now. It’s Gammage’s ninth studio album and you can take a look at our 8/10 review  here.  There are plenty of songs to explore in Gammage’s back-catalogue – his distinctive voice is the highlight throughout.  Enjoy.
