Rufus Wainwright brings in the big guns for his new album including John Legend on ‘Heading for Home’. The two performers are featured in a new music video, a straight forward studio performance. Accompanied by banjo and strings Legend’s voice is a revelation here. Unshackled from his usual syrupy R&B he brings heartache to the tune. It inspires thoughts of a Legend-Giddens collaboration. Wainwright chose his co-conspirators well for this album. Additional guests on the forthcoming album ‘Folkocracy’ include Brandi Carlile, David Byrne, Sheryl Crow, Chaka Khan, Andrew Bird, Susanna Hoffs and Van Dyke Parks.
On recording ‘Heading for Home’ Wainwright reflects, “John Legend has arguably one of the most beautiful voices in the world and listening to him singing is a pure joy,” says Rufus Wainwright. “I am now one of the few who can say that it can get even better, and that is when you sing with him. Thank you for coming on this folk journey with me and singing Peggy Seeger’s ‘Heading For Home’ with me. It was an effortless flight, an elegant glide, a fulfilling soar, not just a mere walk home.”
Beginning in August 2023 Wainwright will embark on a world tour featuring symphonic accompaniment for the songs from ‘Folkocracy’ as well as his past catalog.

WBS - that's Wainwright, Bird and Stills, and in this incidence the Stills is Chris Stills. The Bird is Andrew Bird, no exciting Byrd connection there but hey, you can't have everything. And Rufus Wainwright doesn't have any big Graham Nash connection we can readily think of so this whole…
