The new video from twice GRAMMY-nominated Sister Sadie just looks like so much fun. Directed by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard, there’s a party atmosphere, especially by the end when the group are joined by friends, sharing all the love and connection that the song calls for. With direct lyrics and a relaxed bluegrass style, ‘Do What You Want’ is a laid-back anthem for all those who want to go their own way: “I’ve learned a secret // That’s worked out for me // You’re damned if you do // You’re damned if you don’t // And you’ll never be happy // If you don’t do what you want.” Free, loose fiddle and light, bright mandolin are played with a sense of great joy over the warmly melodic stand-up bass.
The song is taken from the upcoming new album “All Will Be Well”, which is due for release on 27th June 2025. The follow-up to 2024’s Best Bluegrass GRAMMY-nominated “No Fear” promises to deliver well-crafted songs that showcase Sister Sadie’s fine musicianship. Deanie Richardson, the award-winning fiddler and a founding member of the band, says of the new album: “We didn’t go in to record a bluegrass meets 90’s country record. However, as the record progressed, it quickly turned into my most favourite record I’ve ever done. Each song is personal to us all.” Fellow co-founder and award-winning banjo player Gena Britt adds: “This album was so much fun to record. These incredibly talented women are amazing, and I’m honoured to be on this ride with them. From the production to the stage, these songs resonate with all of us. And we can’t wait for the world to share this ride with us.”
The band was formed after a one-off jam session at Nashville’s Station Inn. The six talented musicians in Sister Sadie discovered their undeniable chemistry and haven’t looked back. This is a fresh, new take on that traditional bluegrass sound – enjoy.
