Be absorbed by the outstanding new single from New Jersey band CR & The White Lights. Tinted Windows introduces the band with blistering guitar work; the blend of bright Telecaster and powerful, vibrating notes of the Stratocaster is utterly compelling and right at the heart of this engaging song. Equally impressive are the soaring backing vocals that really lift CR Gennone’s voice in the chorus. Tinted Windows is a song that builds and grows, hurtling towards a searing conclusion of wailing electric guitar and precision use of the whammy bar.
In the video, we see the band at ease, having fun, enjoying one another’s company, and it’s infectious. We also get to see a snare drum being used as a plate, which is a great alternate use of the instrument. It’s an enjoyable visual that is a fine accompaniment to the song.
This is the first single from the forthcoming album My Old Self, due for release on 17th July 2026. Principal songwriter CR Gennone says of the album: “The record captures a period of time in my life when I felt untethered and reflective, focusing on the memories and things in the past that centered me or brought me some sense of calm in the midst of a difficult time.” Having just moved in with his girlfriend and having just lost his job at the time of writing the songs, Gennone found himself asking tough questions about security, self-worth and anxiety. His tales of hard times and hard truths resonate, and the personal passion, matched by the band’s instinctive playing style, brings a sense of release and relief.
