‘Two Hearted Rounder‘ is the first single release from Sarah Lee Langford’s debut album of the same name which will be out on November 8th. It’s a song that plays around the areas where cosmic country, and honky-tonk funk meet to make a pleasing sound that carries Langford’s gorgeously straight forward and no-nonsense vocal.
The song deals with a moment of barroom indecision – is there any worth in dropping old feelings and hitching oneself up to a new, probably not too great, proposition? The perils of exchanging one hurt for another – or never shedding off an old pain: “a lifetime is too long to love a two-hearted rounder / who thinks he found her dressed in a white gown.”
The big grooving sound on the song comes from the pick of Birmingham Alabama’s rockers, including members of The Dexateens and Vulture Whale. It’s a great curtain-raiser for the full album.
