Ally Evenson “Burning Room” – Listen

Ally Evenson isn’t guarding herself on this song, the centrepiece of her new five-song EP ‘Not so Pretty‘ which documents a love that came and went, and documents it with an intensity that is rarely heard.  ‘Burning Room‘ shimmers with a painful acceptance – as all those letters and little written tokens of love turn to ash Ally Evenson questions whether the act means as much to the one who is gone as it does to herself. And if it doesn’t, then was there ever “a reason to stay“?

Ally Evenson brings the lightest of touches to all the songs on the EP; that’s why they ring so true.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
