AmericanaFest is (virtually) coming

We’re having a party !

Well, strictly speaking the Americana Music Association UK is having a party – but we’re going to be crashing in as much as we possibly can.  It’s true that due to “you know what” this year the careening from venue to venue in (most likely) the freezing rain won’t be happening.  Nor will there be that sweat inducing shift into a boiling hot and rammed tiny venue in Hackney.  Or the chilly realisation that you’ve got to the wrong venue and it’s the wrong band – but hey, actually these guys are pretty good.  None of that – because it’s a virtual festival this year.  The big plus side is – well, have you seen the line-up?  You haven’t ?  It’s right here – feast your eyes.  Drool if you must.  It’s some line-up.  And look – there’s a special guest: more special than Chuck Prophet, Larkin Poe, Jim Lauderdale…..must be someone pretty special.

And that’s not all – there’s the Award Evening as well on the 28th, presented by Bob Harris and featuring – well you can read but Mary Gauthier, Steve Earle, Jason Isbell and…yes!…Austin Lucas.

And that’s still not all:  on the 28th there’s a special concert in honour of John Prine. Tickets for this, and the whole Americana Fest can be obtained from here.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
