Beth Peabody “Get It Out” – gonna shake off the bad vibes

Get It Out is one side of the new double-track single from Beth Peabody, who has been a key member of the Jim Basnight Band since 2019, and after seven years of incredible harmonies, she has started releasing her own music, utilising members of the same band. Last year saw the first fruits of her solo career, and now Get It Out / Out And About continues these initial releases. Both songs feature Gary Shelton on bass, drummer Glenn Hummel, harmony vocalist Cathy Sorbo, and Jim Basnight and Bruce Hazen on guitars, with Beth’s husband Sean Peabody on drums.

Get It Out is straight-ahead power pop, in a Bangles-ish vein: it’s the perfect song to kick-start a weekend with its encouragement to get up, get going, rock it out and, umm, “shake it up and get it out of my mind“. De-stress through the boogie. You get the idea.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
