Beth Peabody “Other Women” – I don’t really like her…

Ok, for starters we will not attempt to deconstruct the meaning of the above image in the context of the societal upheavals in the USA.   Beth Peabody is sitting on the claws of an oversized bear and that probably doesn’t have any subtext at all.  Phew!  But what we do know is that ‘Other Woman‘ is a jangly power-popesque tune which makes not unreasonable statements along the lines of “it’s me or her, honey, and it’s time to choose.

Other Woman‘ is one of two debut solo singles from Beth Peabody, both written by Jim Basnight.  Beth has been a key member of the Jim Basnight Band since 2019, providing harmony vocals.  On these releases Beth was backed by a talented lineup, including Garey Shelton on bass and production, drummer Sean Peabody (Beth’s husband), guitarist Bruce Hazen, and other local musicians.  Beth has also been busy over the Summer working on the Jim Basnight Band’s 10th album, which features 18 new songs in a similar vein to ‘Other Woman‘.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
