Brianna Kočka “Seasons” – Listen

Floating in on a breathless vocal, and a simple statement “all I really need are these seasons of loving you“, this new song by Brianna Kočka has a dreamy Nick Drake feel to it.  It’s taken from the Minnesotan singer-songwriter’s latest recording ‘Let it Stay‘, which is released on May 14th.  It’s fair to say it’s quite a change from Kočka’s earlier releases – which had covered such genres as indie-rock and psychedelic/Trip Hop – but it carries on a new path that emerged from a period when she had moved to an island off the east coast to work and live for ten months.  Reconnecting with playing guitar again Brianna Kočka soon found she had an album’s worth of Folk/Americana songs related to the hardships of life, the realities of marriage, and living in isolation, which became her second studio album ‘Dreamlife.’

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
