Well, Charles Wesley Goodwin would like to persuade one and all that in fact it is the string of little wins – like the first sip of coffee in the morning – that are the things that are worth having in life. Like – a smile, or a lazy day in bed (sweet!) – although he acknowledges it’s easier to say “don’t sweat the big pay day” than to not actually become concerned about it. But…little acts of kindness can’t be a completely bad idea in the world in which we happen to live.
‘It’s The Little Things‘ is taken from the new Charles Wesley Goodwin EP ‘ Lonely Mountain Town‘ which will be out on February 28th. Written principally on the road, Lonely Mountain Town is at its heart a collection of snapshots and quiet moments in life. The sort of poetic musings that find Godwin raking through situations with a fine-tooth comb and peeling back the layers on the most delicate situations thrown our way. “These are character songs,” Godwin explains. “Most of them aren’t about my life. They’re just little pieces that I’ve taken from traveling.”
Godwin is already back on the road – in the States – and is looking forward to dates with Willie Nelson & Family, Bob Dylan, Turnpike Troubadours and Willow Avalon as part of the Outlaw Music Festival in July.
Here's a gorgeous video for a gorgeous song. 'Coal Country' is the lead single from Charles Wesley Godwin's debut album, 'Seneca', which was released to critical acclaim in 2019. The album transports the listener to the mills, mines, rivers, valleys and mountains of Godwin's West Virginia home. His father was…
'Strong' is the most recent single from Charles Wesley Godwin's latest album 'How the Mighty Fall' (outon November 5th), a follow up to his 2019 debut 'Seneca'. The West Virginian has a voice full of a woody resonance, like a clapboard peppered with grit. It's the perfect vehicle for a…
Well, we're back, and there could hardly be a better way to kick off the years videos than with this great song from Charles Wesley Godwin taken from his new album Seneca, out on February 15th. It's a nice simple video too, belying the rather chaotic with Godwin just out…
Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
Excellent song from a first rate artist.
