Feeding Leroy “Comes A Time” – not Neil

The funny thing is that, although this is not a Neil Young cover it really could be – there’s a lot of acoustic Neil hanging around this superb new song from Feeding Leroy, and not just the slightest echo of Dylan’s Changing Of The Guard.

Starting out as a duo, when Lee Martin and Sonja Bjordal began performing together in Park City, Utah and after having a weekly gig throughout one fateful summer they decided that they had found what they were meant to do. The two took their show back home to Duluth, on the shores of Lake Superior, where they have been performing regularly ever since.  And over the time the band that would eventually be called Feeding Leroy grew, eventually becoming a four piece with with brother Luke Martin stepping in on the harmonica and long time friend and bassist, Adam Staupe on the upright bass, with both adding their vocal harmonies.

Comes A Time is the title track of Feeding Leroy’s new album, which is out this September, Lee Martin says of it “This is one of the songs that we first recorded in the summer of 2020, when this album began. We have been playing it at our shows the last few years and have seen it evolve. The meaning has changed a lot for me over time.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
