Jaspar Lepak has kept busy through lockdowns, the folk/Americana singer has taken up banjo and embroidery classes on Zoom, she also is an avid reader. That last is intimately tied up with her music as Jaspar Lepak is a member of the Bushwick Book Club of Seattle—a group of songwriters who write and perform songs inspired by books. Two of the songs that have come out of this appear on her 2021 release ‘Desert Ghosts‘ which is out on March 12th.
A child of the Sonoran Desert, Jaspar Lepak mixes classic folk and bluegrass sounds, and her new album documents a time of deep personal change and reflect the landscapes of the places she has lived–the savannas of South Africa, the plains of Minnesota, the rainforests of Washington and the canyons of the Southwest. ‘Ever Gonna Fly‘ takes a musical light touch to the topic of rediscovering one’s dreams – and making a determined promise not to let the passing of years make them just empty pipe dreams.
