Jesper Lindell “Sweetheart Like You” – hanging around the bad side of town

Jesper Lindell’s latest project is an album called ‘Windows, Vol2’ which follows the same path as the Vol 1 – with the Swedish singer-songwriter covering songs from his influences.  And today it is Dylan, often seen as one of his more controversial songs due to lines like ‘A woman like you should be at home / that’s where you belong / Taking care of somebody nice / Who don’t know how to do you no wrong.”  Patronising?  Well… except it’s not as simple a song as that (when is it ever with Dylan?) because account also has to be taken of  the never more contemporary “They say patriotism is the last refuge to which a scoundrel clings / Steal a little and they throw you in jail steal a lot and they make you king.”

Windows Vol. 2′ will be released in January 2025.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
