Julian Taylor & Jim Cuddy “Tulsa Time” – resetting my watch

We both kick-start and ease you into the week with a solid classic song performed by two of Canada’s finest, Julian Taylor and Blue Rodeo’s Jim Cuddy.  Actually, that should be three of Canada’s finest since Jimmy Bowskill (late of The Sheepdogs and much else besides) is also on the track, which was recorded at his home studio.  The band was rounded out with Steve O’Connor on keys and Ian Mc Keown on drums.

Julian and Jim got together to sing the Don Williams song at The Horseshoe Tavern as part of a Christmas fundraiser for the Daily Bread Food Bank and later revisited it during the 2023 JUNO Awards at The Carleton in Halifax.  The next logical step was a recording.

Julian Taylor has said that: “It’s such a classic country staple. I’ve loved it for a long time and what a pleasure it is to sing it with one of my friends and heroes.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
