We love it when something just pops up somewhat unexpectedly – and this take on the all-time number 2 Beatles song on the office iPod by Lucinda Williams is both unexpected and epically good. It’s taken from the seventh edition of Lu’s Jukebox, this time a set of Beatles covers which we announced last week. ‘Lucinda Williams Sings The Beatles From Abbey Road features 12 Beatles songs that include classic hits such as ‘Can’t Buy Me Love‘, ‘With A Little Help From My Friend’s’ and ‘Something‘. Williams and her band also take on beloved deeper tracks such as ‘I’m So Tired‘, ‘I’ve Got A Feeling‘ and ‘Yer Blues‘. There’s even a recording of ‘The Long And Dreary Song‘ which we’re hoping is going to be kicked into some sort of life by Lucinda Williams – if anybody can, she can. Sadly the all-time number 1 Beatles song on the office iPod is not present…ah well.

Well that's it from us for another week dear reader. AUK has been on its travels to Malmo and bumped into longtime AUK friend and sometimes writer Fiona Winders - hello Fiona! - and it was nice to see so much support for Palestine over there, literally around every corner…

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
Lucinda’s band has the fabulous Doug Pettibone and Marc Ford on guitar and here’s another great solo to go along with those of Clapton, Prince, Frampton and all the others. PS Dying to know what’s the number 1 Beatles track on the office iPod!

Lucinda Willilams now has the time to work on her singing, since due to her stroke she does not play guitar any more. Her voice has gotten so much better!
