So after hibernating over the ‘festive’ period we here at Americana-UK Towers are back up and running and ready for anything. Eagle-eyed viewers will note that most of my colleagues have already returned to the fray but I offered to take out the empties from down here in The Bunker and there were an awful lot of them. On poking my head out of said Bunker I perused what passes for newspapers in this country hoping to find some juicy tit-bits of news that we could get our teeth into in this feature. I (foolishly) thought that there might be something about half the world being under flood water whilst the other half is on fire. Or possibly that we are on the brink of World War Three. Or maybe that rampant speculative capitalism and far-right lunatics are running hand in hand in order to drive the political agenda. Instead of which I found that the main news-drivers appeared to be about some impossibly privileged bloke wanting to leave the family firm and that some folk wanted to ring a bell in a clock tower. Ho hum. Maybe we’ll have better luck next week.
In the meantime I’ll leave you with this quote from Chilean poet Pablo Neruda: “You can cut all the flowers but you can’t stop the spring from coming”…
