Samantha Crain “An Echo” – Listen

Some songs are just magic – and today’s song is one of those: we don’t believe that you’ll ever forget hearing ‘An Echo‘, which is an emotional tidal-wave taken from Samantha Crain’s new album ‘A Small Death‘.

The drama is palpable from the first line “Somehow between us the air became so thick we couldn’t breathe“, and yet never strays from the believable.  Emotions we’ve all felt at some time written out before us in the most poetic way.

Astonishingly Samantha Crain was involved in a car crash, which led to her losing the ability to move her hands completely. Devastating for anyone, but it was her inability to write music that frustrated her the most. Physical and mental breakdown followed on – but the ability to use her hands did come back, and when it did she wrote ‘A Small Death’ almost immediately.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
