Sounds from beyond the Shed 190 “Gigs and News”

Back in the swim following holidays, although to be fair, it felt like an extension as I headed to Birmingham to watch England capitulate in slow motion. However, the silver lining was a wonderful gig at The Kitchen Garden in King’s Heath, where we were treated to a blinding double bill from Later Youth and Josh Rouse. To describe this as an intimate gig is to underplay just how fabulous and personal it was. And all credit must go to Brett Rehling, the promoter, for creating a stellar atmosphere in such a lovely space. I urge anyone in a fifty-mile radius to have a look at the website and make a journey, enjoy the chilli, and have a brilliant evening.

I was also excited this week by the announcement that I will be hosting a radio news show for Black Deer radio featuring news of upcoming gigs, tours, albums, and an interview with someone of note, or just someone that makes me laugh or cry or rant, or rave. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the show. You can email me at keith@blackdeerradio.com However, fear not, Sounds from beyond the Shed, the radio show, isn’t going anywhere! And talking of gigs, Neil Young beckons on Friday, I’ll be there wearing the jacket.

So it’s been a winning week, apart from the bloody cricket.

Listening this week has, of course, been Josh Rouse and Later Youth, both lovely, and the usual radio show features Jonathan Wilson, Christopher Owens, Margo Price, Kathleen Edwards, and many more. As ever…

Delighted to see this well-deserved tribute to the Kitchen Garden Cafe and Brett. I am lucky enough to have this as my local venue, and I enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and music on a fairly regular basis.
