Sounds from beyond the Shed 214 “Mea Culpa”

So, a couple of weeks ago, I was banging on about how at this time of year there was a proliferation of lists – best of the year, etc. Well, in the spirit of the prevailing sentiment, Sounds from beyond the Shed, the radio show has leapt wholeheartedly into the fray with the next three shows all being list-based. First up is the show that features below. The top 50 songs for 2025, all the way down to number 24. Next week, the top twelve albums, and then just before Christmas, 24 down to the number one song of the year, in my opinion. To be fair, this isn’t entirely just my opinion; I have taken account of requests from listeners, etc., but if they’re listening, then our tastes will be pretty much aligned, I would say.

“So who’s in the shows?” you naturally ask, and I would reply, ” Well… Dan Raza, Mavis Staples, Jack Browning, Flypaper, Boulder fields, Florry, Brown Horse, Patterson Hood, Katherine Priddy, Kathleen Edwards, and many, many more, some perhaps surprising. You’ll have to be listening to find out. Link below as usual.

In other audio news, I had the most lovely conversation with Willy Vlautin this week for next week’s podcast, so I have been listening to The Delines and Richmond Fontaine a lot. As ever…
