Velcro Dog is the solo project of Norwegian musician and songwriter Tony Gonzalez, on which his forceful vocal is accompanied by a stripped-down musicality against which the stark lyrics he conjures up become the central focus. By way of explanation of the song Tony Gonzalez told Americana UK: “A lot of love songs make my skin crawl, so in the spirit of challenging myself, I had to try my hand at writing one. The result is ‘Head over High-Tops’, an homage to my girlfriend and fellow Converse enthusiast. The lyrics weave together facts and metaphors, creating a tale complete with radiotherapy, coke & red wine, and deep-fried cheese.”
