Video: Devarrow “Likewise”

Check out ‘Likewise’, the memorable new single written, produced, and performed by songwriter Graham Ereaux, also known as Devarrow.  Blending folk and indie influences, Devarrow has created a hugely compelling song, featuring a gorgeous melody and a sense of sonic urgency in the performance.  When writing songs for his new album, Ereaux discovered this amongst old demos and breathed new life into it.  He took the infectious, energetic outro, which stuck in his mind, and rewrote it as a dynamic chorus.  The end result is breathless and hugely likeable.

‘Likewise’ is the first single from ‘Heart Shaped Rock’, the new album due on 4th October.  Incredibly, it’s the second album release of 2024 from the prolific Canadian musician, following up ‘A Long & Distant Wave’.  Ereaux describes his sound as: “Carpenter-surf-folk-pop best listened to while driving down quiet rural roads or out to the beach,” which is a pretty accurate description of his energetic style and catchy hooks.  Recorded at his DIY home-studio, ‘Heart Shaped Rock’ will be Devarrow’s fourth album.  He says of the new material: “This record is largely influenced by consciously trying to focus on the things that bring joy to our lives. The world feels scary, and I wanted to inspire people to see the things that are good, and the areas we do have control, in a world where we feel so powerless. We have control in the ways we treat people, build community, the relationship we have with our environment, and how we treat our mental and physical health. This record is about being excited about finding the strength to take control of one’s health, and discovering some ways to stay happy and healthy.”  Indeed, this is joyful music, much-needed in the world right now and we look forward to more of it on the new album.
