Video: Eric Bazilian “Heaven Ain’t Gonna Save Us”

Well, it’s been a busy year in American politics and society: the response to the pandemic, the Black Lives Matter protests, debate on climate change and, of course, the unresolved Presidential election.  It’s all here in the smart paper-animation video for Eric Bazilian’s latest single.  The sound is upbeat and hopeful but, in truth, this is more of a plea for people to come together. Bazilian explains: “I wrote the song the day after the Presidential election in 2016, as a reflection on the toxic ideological polarisation of not only the USA, but the entire world. Now, on the cusp of another election, where the stakes are even higher in the midst of a global pandemic, I decided to put on my ‘topical songwriter’ shoes. As I say in the song, I firmly believe, ‘..there ain’t no right or wrong wing on a plane that’s gotta fly through a sky that’s got room for all of us.'”

The multi-platinum-selling, multi-instrumentalist, multi-talented co-founder of The Hooters plays guitar, bass, electric piano and mandola as well as delivering a melodic vocal that makes the whole thing feel like a party.  After all, if we’re going to make sense of the world right now, we should try to make it feel like fun.
