Check out ‘Without Warning’, the recent single from Scottish singer-songwriter Kirsten Adamson.  It’s upbeat with a great riff and a stirring guitar solo halfway through.  Adamson’s vocal is finely balanced between fragility and power as she engages us with an infectious melody.  Adamson sings:  “My heart is stuck in the innocence of childhood before our hearts are broken by the way that life picks you up, shows you a good time and quickly throws you down again, without warning.”  It’s a song full of nostalgia and a love for all things retro and the innocence of times past.  She explains: “‘Without Warning’ is about finding hope in the mystery of all that life can throw at you.”  And hopeful it is.

The song is the final track on ‘Landing Place’, Adamson’s brand new album, which was released in February 2023 and was given an excellent 8/10 review by Americana UK here.  There’s high quality songwriting all across the record and Adamson was ably supported by AUK-favourite Dean Owens, who was on production duties and co-wrote a couple of the songs.   The daughter of Big Country’s Stuart Adamson, Kirsten clearly has benefited from being brought up around music.  A gifted performer and songwriter, she is one to watch.  Enjoy.
