Video Premiere: Moors & McCumber “What Would Love Do Now”

The latest single from Moors & McCumber is all about the astonishing vocal harmonies.  Their voices combine beautifully, pulling together and apart in a melodic dance that showcases their considerable talent.  Both members of the duo are multi-instrumentalists: James Moors plays guitar, ukulele, mandolin and Irish bouzouki while Kort McCumber provides keys, cello, guitar, Irish tenor banjo, Irish bouzouki, fiddle, mandolin, accordion, harmonica, upright and electric bass.  Such a range of instrumental gifts provides many musical opportunities but, most importantly, they know when and how to deploy them and their songcraft is excellent.   Lyrically, this song is based around a series of challenging times and asks the simple question: “…what would love do now?”  It’s a catchy, open-hearted and earnest song that begins with McCumber’s delicate keys and Moors’ voice.  Slowly, with the addition of further instrumentation and McCumber’s vocal harmonies, the song grows and becomes truly absorbing.

The prolific Moors and McCumber had each released six studio albums of their own before they met at a festival in 2005 and discovered their musical chemistry.  The combination of their voices and the blend of their talents allowed them to forge ahead, becoming increasing creative and ambitious in their arrangements and recordings.  ‘What Would Love Do Now’ is taken from forthcoming album ‘Survival’, due out on 15th October.  It’s the duo’s seventh studio album and they show no sign of slowing down.  While you wait for the full record, check out the video premiere of this heart-felt song.
