In these reviews I often find myself harking back to a period in London’s long lost rock history: the pub rock and early punk days of 75/76 that, in particular, the west of the city became associated with. Tonight’s gig is in the legendary 100 Club slap bang in heart of town. It’s a busy affair. The man I’m here to see is supporting Jet’s Nic Cester and veteran indie /punk broadcaster is Gary Crowley is DJing. It’s a superb gig, full of the right amount of joviality, rawness and musicianship, but as the sun rises the next morning, I’m thinking of west London again and the tower blocks that flank the Westway, the landscapes so evocative of early Clash artwork. RS Country streams entire Chris Shiflett album ahead of release

This is becoming a bit of a habit but a welcome one! RS Country reports: “A case could easily be made that Chris Shiflett is the busiest (and most hyphenated) man in rock & roll. However, last summer the singer-songwriter-guitarist-bandleader-podcaster was able to find a small hole in his packed schedule to travel to Nashville’s RCA Studio A to work with celebrated producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell). Foo Fighter Chris Shiflett’s new americana album is out next week

“West Coast Town” the new solo album from Chris Shiflett, will be released on 14th April on SideOneDummy Records. Although he’s known as the Foo Fighters’ lead guitarist, Chris’s solo country work has also gained him recognition on the alt-country scene, where “his signature vocals and killer guitar work serve up a heady brew of raw barroom honky tonk, hi-octane rockabilly, and here-and-now Americana.” And we like a bit of here and now americana.  Continue reading “Foo Fighter Chris Shiflett’s new americana album is out next week”
