One of americana’s greatest supporters in the UK, promoter Barry Marshall Everitt has died following a lengthy battle with cancer. His wife Bex posted on his Just Giving page over the weekend: “Sadly after a monstrous battle and rapid decline last week Barry passed away on Easter Sunday …, while staying at a Hospice he was being treated for severe pain control, he was also under the medication from the private Harley Street COC cancer clinic as well as being privately administered a course of RSO. He decided that after his funeral costs and death expenses that his fund will be put towards the re launch of the House Of Mercy Radio Show/TV in his memory and his work was to be continued as much as possible without him at the helm. Support for the touring artists of the music world he loved so much and he championed all his industry life, he wanted to keep it rolling and the studio to be ongoing in the production of radio shows and interviews. This is one of the things he was hugely admired and cherished for in his life and remembered for now. Thank you all again for your messages of love and sympathy and RIP BARRY MARSHALL-EVERITT xxx”
Several people and organisations paid tribute to Barry via Twitter including Bob Harris and the AMA-UK.
