Taking Simon & Garfunkel, Dylan and CSN as touchstones for your folky Americana (and we hear strands of The Band and The Felice Brothers too) is never going to be a bad idea. And on this song, the title track of Jamestown Revival’s upcoming album release, due out January 14th, there’s all that. It’s the first of their albums to use an outside producer, and Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance clearly made a smart choice with fellow Texan Robert Ellis. ‘Young Man’ is the duo’s take on the “I was so much older then” reflection, as some of the fire of youth fades and an acceptance of nuance arrives.
