Bonny Light Horseman may have come together as a “folk supergroup” almost by accident but the combined talents of Anaïs Mitchell, Eric D. Johnson and Josh Kaufman’s, here augmented by Justin Vernon do not produce haunting new takes on traditional songs by chance.
There’s a love of the source, and a wish to give it a new spin into the future. The band’s album came out on the 24th of January and they play The Roundhouse tonight supporting Anaïs Mitchell, and headline at The Lexington tomorrow.
