Dr John “Gimme That Old Time Religion” – it’s good enough for me

A song that was good enough for The Band makes a nice choice for Dr John on this latest single from his last studio recordings.  And on this song, sure enough it’s true, the good Doctor is joined by compadre in music Willie Nelson on guitar and vocals.  Sounds great – but then Dr John always sounded great, one of the few artists who it would have been worth seeing in an endless residency night after night, should such a thing have been possible.  But that’s enough from me – let’s roll this thing.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
