Rocky Votolato “Little Black Diamond” – intimate acoustic americana

There’s an intimate feel to ‘Little Black Diamond‘ which is taken from the album ‘Wild Roots‘ which will be released on September 9 via Spartan Records and Thirty Something Records (Europe/UK).  It’s the first new album in seven years from the Seattle-based indie-folk musician Rocky Votolato, and it’s an album which has at its heart family connections – each song is a letter dedicated to a specific family member and focused on a special memory or moment in time.   A concept that became even more poignant after Votolato lost his child in December of 2021 in a tragic car accident.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
