Tami Neilson “You Were Mine” – Listen

Tami Neilson is no blushing wallflower – not with a voice like hers which commands the attention.  Her music covers a number of classic styles – pure country, some rock and roll and rockabilly,  and gospel inspired soulful blues.  She has a new album out on February 14th, subtly entitled ‘CHICKABOOM!‘, from which this single has been taken. The song was supposed to come complete with a music video for the track created by her brother Todd Neilson, however it didn’t feel right to share it now as Tami explained ” while I am so incredibly proud of what an amazing visual clip he created, I have decided against releasing it at this time, due to the element of fire being a prominent part of the video. I am a Canadian / New Zealander who resides in NZ where the skies have been hazy, orange, and smoke-filled as we grieve for our Australian neighbours fighting the terrible bushfires. Please donate and help the beautiful people of this beautiful country.”

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
