Tom Paxton will tour the UK in 2019

Greenwich Village troubadour Tom Paxton is returning to the UK yet again in 2019, marking his 53rd year of visiting these shores.  Still producing new material – his last album was 2017’s ‘Boat in the Water‘, which was Paxton’s 62nd release of new material (not counting his multiple dozens of compilations).  That gives a lot to pick from – but likely the format will be a mixture of the hits, a few more pointed songs, plenty of anecdotes and a few new tunes.

With such a long and distinguished career Tom Paxton has had the distinction  of having his compositions become so well known and far-flung that they are sometimes seen as part of that vast folk tradition ascribed to ‘Anon‘.  Or, as Nanci Griffith’s has it : “I think we are all born singing Tom Paxton songs.”

As on his last tour he will be accompanied by The Donjuans (Don Henry and Jon Vezner) adding their own material as well as accompaniment to Tom Paxton’s  own material.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
