“Jericho”, by Virginia’s Kyle Davis, gently builds to a beautifully melodic and layered conclusion, creating an epic quality that stirs the listener’s soul.  Davis demonstrates classic, timeless songwriting that feels both real and emotional.  Supported by gorgeous, lush instrumentation, including Peter Holsapple’s mandolin and angelic backing vocals, Davis’s voice is strong and he demonstrates incredible range – those high notes are particularly impressive, soaring heavenwards.  Produced and mixed by Don Dixon (R.E.M.), the sound is expansive, full of layers and depth and space.  Through his carefully-chosen words, Davis explores the theme of searching for meaning beyond material wealth in our lives.  Alongside this self-discovery, he also touches on ideas of love and loss, overcoming challenges and personal redemption.  Like the soundscape he creates, these are epic themes that will resonate with his audience.

This is the title track from Davis’s brand new album, his seventh full-length release, which is out now.  For the new songs, Davis reunited the classic line-up from “Raising Heroes”, his critically-acclaimed 1997 release on Sony.  After a hiatus to focus on family, Davis returned to music with his 2020 album “Make it Count”, released during the pandemic.  Since then he has continued to write emotional, introspective songs.  Give “Jericho” a listen – impressive song-craft.  Enjoy.
