Here’s ‘Dance With You Again’, the latest single from Alex Dunn, an Americana-songwriter from Aztec, New Mexico. Alongside Dunn’s warmly picked classical guitar, Cameron Peace’s guitar and Bryant Moore’s bass and electric guitar offer depth and texture. Moore’s harmonies enhance Dunn’s vocal performance in a finely crafted song.
The accompanying video, directed by Alex Dunn and Sam Arensmeier, features Dunn delivering his beautiful melody in a truly beautiful location. After emerging from a tunnel, he plays amongst snow-covered peaks and in a gorgeously gnarled and twisted tree, against the backdrop of a brilliant blue sky until the sun begins to dip over the horizon. The sense of loneliness is reinforced by landscapes that are beautiful but also bleak and isolated.
Dunn says of the song and video: “This video was filmed in winter time out behind my house in Northern New Mexico. There is a certain sense of calm and quiet in the desert, especially when it snows. There is much solitude here, but I find respite in the stillness of the rocks, in the Juniper trees and cacti, the vastness of the setting sun. The song itself was written during a time of particular isolation, drawing upon a shared loneliness – really it’s about wanting to go out dancing.”
‘Dance With You Again’ is the first single taken from Dunn’s forthcoming EP – one to look out for. The follow up to 2021’s excellent ‘Southern Star’ album promises to deliver more well-crafted songs, engaging melodies and thoughtful, sensitive lyricism. Enjoy.
