Dream Team Triple Header – Sam Lee, Rhiannon Giddens and Teenage Fanclub

Songkick offers just one real wildcard this time in its triple header not really a triple header email…err…header – Rhiannon Giddens and Sam Lee are a pairing that would, of course, naturally go together, maybe at the Union Chapel or some such fine and notable venue.  But the jangly rock of Teenage Fanclub would raise a few eyebrows down at the folk club (where, it would seem, we find ourselves imagining we are once again).  That would certainly cause some shock and awe – and maybe that’s the point of this imagined gig.

The running order is equally obvious.  Moving through the decibels we can go from the hushed beauty of Sam Lee’s pastoral visions, through Rhiannon Giddens’ more robust sound – not for nothing was she awarded Americana Force of Nature 2022 at…umm…somewhere or other – and then we can all get up and bounce around to Scotland’s most successful West Coast band.  I’d buy that ticket.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
