Nils Lofgren has UK tour in May

Joseph Quever

Nils Lofgren has announced a fifteen date tour of the UK in May this year. Sticking firmly to his “hardest working man in rock” reputation this is an epic sized tour that will be complete in just seventeen days. Guitar master, singer-songwriter, celtic harp player, tap-dancer – these are all things that Nils Lofgren is. The flip ? No, the passing years have called time on the flip. He’s had to just grin and bear it.

Lofgren is probably best known for his association with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band (where he replaced Steve Van Zandt) but there’s a lot more to him than “just” that. Guitar and piano on After the Gold Rush, for example. His own band, Grin, and his solo career including the landmark The Loner – Nils sings Neil for further examples. He’s toured with a Beatle as part of Ringo’s All-Starr Band. In brief Nils Lofgren is one of those whose career is stitched through the history of rock – the more you go looking for him the more you find.

Tickets for the tour go on sale on the 19th of January (26th January for the London show at The Barbican).

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
