The Flowers Of Indulgence “One Man’s Loss” – Dylan rediscovered

Not every song by Dylan is well known, and when it comes to ‘One’s man Loss‘ only available through dodgy Bootlegs, and then finally on the official Bootleg Series Complete Basement Tapes release, it’s really safe to say that this is what the kids call “a deep dive“.   And yet it’s a catchy tune, with Dylan expounding on idea such as “one man’s meat being another man’s poison” or reflecting that for one man to get rich another will get poor.  What The Flowers Of Indulgence have done is “rescue” some of these lesser known songs and given them a full, clean, and worked up recording – basically doing what Dylan and The Band might have done if ‘One Man’s Loss‘ had been taken forward to, say, ‘Planet Waves.

This recording comes from a new album of such songs, recorded over three days in a Scottish Highland studio by a gang of Dylan and The Band aficionados under the moniker The Flowers of Indulgence, ‘Dylan’s Lost Songs Vol 1.’  And you know what that means….  The album will be released on April 19th.

The Flowers Of Indulgence are (and it is just possible that some of these monikers are not actual birth names): Don Khan – Lead Vocals and Guitars, Tiny Montgomery – Lead Vocals, Bass and Guitars, Silly Nellie – Guitars, Skinny Moo – Piano, Organ, T-Bone Frank – Drums, Percussion, The Rose Maries – Backing vocals.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
