Track Premiere: My Girl The River “Up The Mountain”

Today we have an early listen to the third single from the next My Girl The River album Manifest Good Things (due this September) which brings a slightly different sound to the family band.  There’s a somewhat Southern Rock feel, withy all that slide guitar, but blend in the organ, piano, and wurlitzer compliments of multi-instrumentalist Harry Whittey and it starts to have that early-70s early-CSN feel as well.

It’s an inspiring song, about persevering and reaching one’s goals – which could be metaphorical or could just as easily be to actually climb a mountain – and is already in My Girl The Rivers’ live shows.  They’ll be playing at the Americana 25 celebration in November, and if you can’t wait that long there’s a showcase at The WAter Rats in London on June 16th.

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan's music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That's not much to ask, is it?
