Another trip to the movies for Project Hail Mary
It's written by the same person who wrote The Martian - and it shows. There's also a big chunk of Passengers, and a little side serving of Arrival. Ryan Gosling spends a lot of time lookng astonished - which allows the camera to linger on his face for long time as well. They could have lost some of that and brought it in under 156minutes.
Quite enjoyable, it looks like the future is going to stay obsessed with music from the 1960s-80s (like Guardian of the Galaxy and parts of the Alien movie series).
Just watched the latest Louis Theroux vehicle on Netflix about the "Manosphere". I'm so conflicted about Theroux. Yes he tackles some serious and interesting topics. Yes he asks the difficult questions. Yes he somehow gets access to difficult to access folk. But why does he have to be in it? I just have this itch which I can't scratch with him. I'm intensely interested in the issues he raises in his various programmes but I just wish he could make these things without being the centre of attention all the time. I don't care what his personal view is. I want to know what the various nutjobs have to say. Then I'll make my own mind up thanks very much Louis
Just binged "Legends" - a British drama on Netflix about undercover Customs officers. Based on a true story. Excellent
